mexican treats.

growing up, whenever one of my sisters or i had a spanish class party, these were our go-to party treats. sure, labeling them "mexican treats" is really just an attempt to call deep fried, sugar coated goodness a cultural experience, but who cares? you can make them with any flour tortillas, but i'm a diehard advocate of the uncooked tortillas available at your local costco. once you try 'em, you'll never go back.

mexican treats

ingredients:
as many tortillas as you want, sliced into triangles
2 tbs. butter for each tortilla
1/2 - 1 cup sugar
cinnamon

1. combine the sugar with as much cinnamon as you want in a brown paper bag. (i probably use 1 tsp. cinnamon per 1 cup sugar).
2. heat a large pan over med-high heat. once it's hot, add 2 tbs. butter and as many chips as will fit in the pan. wait until they start bubbling and turn golden brown, then flip them and fry the other side.
3. immediately drop the chips in the bag and shake until they're coated with the good stuff. eat immediately or let them cool off first. (we always eat them immediately. shocker.)
